The available technology and driver-assist features should make working with the ProMaster simpler and more enjoyable. Ram says the front-drive configuration was chosen to enable a lower load floor; there's no rear-drive componentry taking up precious cargo space. Indeed, the ProMaster has a vast cargo hold, effectively supporting its commercial mission.

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is a good bet when it comes to van versatility. This large-van mainstay can be outfitted to carry many cargoes, a slew of passengers, or a mix of both. The current third-generation Sprinter, revealed in 2018, emphasizes tech and connectivity. Now available with gasoline or diesel engines, plus available four-wheel drive, the Sprinter has the hardware to be a great camper or overland adventure rig, too. The Sprinter may be Mercedes' least-luxurious offering with its focus on utility.
